Straight from the casinos comes this electronic handheld version of the Yahtzee Jackpot slot machine. Spin the reels, match up the symbols, and win big--at least in game money. If players bet the max and get a "Y" on the pay line, one of two bonus rounds pops up allowing for multiple dice rolls and the chance to rack up more credits. The one-player game will keep score continuously until reset or "new game" is selected. Sound can be turned off (which is nice since it quickly gets annoying). If not in use for more than a minute, the game goes to sleep to conserve the two AA batteries (included). --Pam Lauer

This is a fun electronic game that has engrossed my daughters and me for 6 weeks (a record for our family). Unlike the casino version, we keep building up our score, 20 credits here, 100 credits there. Starting from 0, we are now over 400,000. We go backwards from time to time, up to about 200 credits, but in general the credits keep piling up. The batteries provided with the game must have really been something to have gone this long without needing to be replaced. We play it several hours a day, passing it around the room while doing crafts, watching TV, reading, and doing homework.
It is a single line slots game with the typical symbols–bars, cherries, 7s. When a Y comes up in reel 3 with max coins bet, you get presented with a bonus round of one of two types. In Bonus Dice, you play standard Yahtzee and try to make your best hand. You win 40 credits for chance, 60 for a small straight, 100 for a large straight, all the way up to 1200 for a Yahtzee in 6s. In Take a Chance, you get to keep spinning up to 11 times. You continue to spin as long as you get chance. As soon as you get a Yahtzee result other than chance, you get an amount of credits times the number of spins you have taken, 20 for a small straight, 35 for a full house, all the way up to 100 for a Yahtzee. If you complete 100 spins with a Chance each time, you get 1200 credits. Thus, it is barely similar to the casino game, which has 9 pay lines, requires lining up at least 3 symbols to get the Yahtzee bonus, requires a scatter of at least 3 sympols to get its Take It Chance, and which typically exhausts the gambler’s resources in short order.
You have to learn where the speed buttons are. Pushing Spin at the right times helps the game move faster, such as in counting credits or in playing Take A Chance. Holding down high score converts your score from credits to dollars and cents.
But, still, it is fun, not challenging, but fun.

I purchased this item because I love to play Yahtzee and have worn out several of the plain Yahtzee hand held games. I thought this would be fun to try. So much, in fact, that I bought an extra one to give as a Christmas gift this year.
How very disappointing I found this game to be. Any similarity to the actual game of Yahtzee is purely accidental. It’s a slot machine with a slight nod to the original game. Not that I don’t enjoy slot machines, but I enjoy them more when they let you win once in a while. The slots were as tight as tight can be, which made point accumulation extremely slow. A couple of features were disappointing, for example: When you hold down the high score button, the display shows what your points would be worth in cash. This only works for the high score, and when you continue to lose (which is the norm, not the exception), the dollar amount stays at the high level, and does not reflect the dollar amount of the actual current score. The sound effects are fair, but border on annoying. The “bonus” rolls you get when a “Y” lands on the pay line are fun, but few and far between, and I need slightly more stimulation to hold my interest.
Despite all that, the worst feature about this game was its durability, or lack thereof. After just a couple of weeks of play, during which time I accumulated just over 10,000 points, it malfunctioned. When I turned it on, the display was distorted and the wheels didn’t turn smoothly. It got stuck on a roll and wouldn’t stop. I got a good roll and got no points. In short, it refused to work and I had to reset it. I was extremely disappointed. That has happened again several times since and I’m now so disgusted with it that I don’t even play with it anymore. I feel badly that I bought one as a gift and am considering returning the other one. …

I brought this game for myself but my mother and niece plays it
more than I do. My mother and niece actually argues over who gets to play it first. Everyone in my household is now looking for additional games so everyone will have their very own .
